Our Future

In an effort to maintain the most comfortable, responsible home for our animals, as well as the most inspiring experience for our guests and patrons, Zoo Knoxville is constantly looking ahead to the future. We are dedicated to ensuring the funding necessary to operate the zoo at the very highest level. We are also committed to evolving the experiences here to engage new generations about critical topics such as wildlife protection and environmental conservation.

In 2016, Zoo Knoxville is building a state-of-the-art Malayan Tiger Habitat that will allow the zoo to contribute to the conservation efforts of some of the most endangered animals on the planet with an ongoing breeding program.

Opening in 2017, Tiger Forest will give zoo visitors the unforgettable experience of being eye-to-eye with these regal cats. As you explore Tiger Forest, you may see tigers swimming underwater in their plunge pools, climbing feed poles, running in pursuit of a lure, training with their caretakers or even partaking in a game of tug-of-war.

Tiger Forest is the first phase of sweeping changes to the zoo’s east campus that will dramatically elevate the way visitors experience the zoo.
