Chimpanzees are found intermittently across the forest belt of Africa in the countries of Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. They are possibly extinct in Benin, Burkina Faso, and Togo.
